Cannabidiol (CBD) is a safe, non-addictive, naturally occurring compound found in the flower of the cannabis plant. CBD is being explored by the scientific community to provide treatments for a variety of medical conditions, including epilepsy, chronic pain, and anxiety. To learn more, we encourage our community to Google health conditions + CBD (ie., anxiety and CBD, arthritis and CBD, etc) to access current research, benefits, and risks.
The cannabis plant produces over one hundred synthesized molecules or “phytocannabinoids”. These include CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that creates a feeling of being “high”. The reason that CBD does not produce a “stoned” or psychoactive effect like THC, is because CBD and THC act in different ways on different receptors (CB1 and CB2) in the brain and body.
